Obverse description Half-length armored effigy of Archduke Ferdinand II of Further Austria and Tyrol facing three-quarters right, wearing elaborately decorated plate armor with incised line ornaments on the breastplate and a prominent pauldron at the left shoulder. The archduke holds a small scepter in his right hand and a sword in his left. The portrait projects above the smooth inner circle into the legend. The field is plain and the bust is rendered in the detailed Renaissance style characteristic of the Hall Mint.

Reverse description Elaborate composite coat of arms displaying the quartered dynastic shields of Hungary, Bohemia, Castile and León, Austria and Burgundy, surmounted by an ornate crowned helmet with mantling. The collar and pendant badge of the Order of the Golden Fleece encircles the shield below the crown. The legend begins at approximately the two o'clock position and runs clockwise within an inner circle, following the Habsburg imperial heraldic tradition as rendered at the Hall Mint.
