Obverse description Armored half-length bust of Archduke Ferdinand II facing right, depicted in elaborate plate armor decorated with two horizontal bands of ornamental design, extending to the upper rim of the coin. The effigy is rendered in high relief in the late Renaissance style. The encircling Latin legend reads FERDINANDVS D G ARCHID AVSTRIÆ, denoting his title as Archduke of Austria by the grace of God.
