Obverse description Equestrian effigy of Archduke Ferdinand I depicted in full armour, riding a horse prancing to the right, the rider brandishing a banner charged with the Austrian eagle. The date appears in the lower field beneath the horse. The design is enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The circumferential legend, commencing at 12 o'clock, reads in Latin identifying Ferdinand by his title as Prince of the Spains.
