| 表面の説明 | Armored half-length effigy of Ferdinand I facing right, depicted in advanced age with a long beard, wearing a crown and full plate armor, holding a scepter over his right shoulder. The portrait is rendered in a detailed Renaissance style characteristic of early sixteenth-century Central European coinage. A beaded inner circle frames the central device, with a Latin legend distributed around the periphery. |

Ferdinand I's Silesian thalers span nearly his entire reign as King of Bohemia, a tenure that began with his election in 1526 following the death of Louis II at Mohács. The Royal Mint of Silesia operated under considerable administrative pressure during these decades — Ferdinand was simultaneously managing the Ottoman threat on Hungary's eastern frontier, suppressing Protestant movements across his territories, and consolidating Habsburg control over a region that had only recently passed to the dynasty.
The Davenport reference EC I#8051 groups a long emission across multiple die marriages. Collectors working this series seriously distinguish issues by the Breslau mint's evolving punch work through the 1540s and 1550s.
