| Descripción del reverso | Full-length frontal figure of Saint Andrew, nimbed and bearded, stands in the center of the field draped in long robes, his arms outstretched and bound to the large diagonal saltire cross that dominates the composition. The date 1540 is divided by the arms of the cross, with '15' appearing to the left and '40' to the right. The surrounding Latin legend SANCTVS ANDREAS encircles the design along the inner border, reading continuously around the figure. The bold, robust rendering of the saint is characteristic of German hammered thaler coinage of the mid-sixteenth century. |
