| Descrizione del dritto | Bust of Ernest of Bavaria facing right, draped in ecclesiastical vestments with a lace collar and armour, set within a wreath of laurel branches. The effigy is rendered in high relief in the hammered style characteristic of early seventeenth-century German thalers. A circular beaded border separates the central portrait from the outer legend. The peripheral legend reads: ERNESTVS•D•G•AR•COL•ELCT•EPS•LEOD•ADM•HILD•MON ET•FREIS•PAL•RE•DVX•BA•AN•WES•ET•BVL, recording Ernest's full titulature as Archbishop-Elector of Cologne, Bishop of Liège, Administrator of Hildesheim, Münster and Freising, Palatine Count, and Duke of Bavaria. The rim is decorated with a fine dentilated border. |

| Descrizione del rovescio | Central field displays the crowned Bavarian lozenge (fusily) coat of arms in high relief, supported by elaborate foliate mantling and set within a circular beaded border. The date 1608 appears above the central shield, flanked by decorative scrollwork. Surrounding the central arms, arranged in a ring along the outer field, are twelve smaller heraldic shields representing the various territories and dignities held by Ernest of Bavaria, each surmounted by a crown or mitre, including the arms of Cologne, Liège, Hildesheim, Münster, Freising, and further Wittelsbach possessions. The rim is plain, consistent with the hammered technique employed throughout. |
