正面描述 Armored bust of Ernest III facing right, depicted with flowing hair and a ruffled collar beneath plate armor, set within a beaded inner circle. The effigy is rendered in a detailed Baroque style typical of early 17th-century German thalers. The surrounding Latin legend reads along the outer border, beginning at the lower left and continuing around the periphery.

附加信息

Ernest III ruled Holstein-Schaumburg-Pinneberg during a period when the county's minting activity was driven as much by prestige as by commercial necessity — small German territories of the early Thirty Years' War period frequently struck thalers to assert political standing rather than to meet genuine monetary demand. Ernest died in 1622, leaving no male heir, which triggered a prolonged succession dispute between the houses of Schaumburg-Lippe and Holstein-Sonderburg that ultimately extinguished the county as an independent entity by 1640.

Issues from this mint in 1620 are scarce by any measure; the county's brief remaining window of independent coinage makes surviving pieces from this final decade correspondingly rare in the market.
