Obverse description Central field occupied by the elaborately quartered coat of arms of the County of Holstein-Schaumburg-Pinneberg, surmounted by an ornate crowned helmet with a fan-shaped crest and flanked by decorative baroque mantling. The shield incorporates multiple heraldic quarters including the nettle-leaf of Schaumburg, the Holstein nettles, and the Pinneberg charges, all rendered in fine relief. A six-pointed star appears to each side of the central shield. The surrounding legend reads ERNESTUS. HO(L). SC. E. ST. CO. DO. GEM(M). identifying Ernest III as Count and Lord of the associated territories.
