Reverse description The elaborately detailed quartered arms of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha displayed on a large shield, supported by ermine-lined mantling draped and tied with tasselled cords on either side, surmounted by a royal crown. The heraldic composition, featuring the Saxon barry with rautenkranz and the Coburg-Gotha quarters, is flanked by the denomination inscription EIN THALER XIV EINE F.M. arranged around the upper field. The date 1848 is placed in the lower exergual area, separated by a small ornamental device, all within a toothed border.
