| Additional information |
Enno III ruled East Frisia through one of the most turbulent stretches of the Thirty Years' War's opening phase, and his county sat directly in the path of competing Spanish and Dutch military operations along the North Sea coast. The thalers issued under his name between 1614 and 1622 served a practical wartime economy, not a ceremonial one.
Enno died in 1625 without a male heir, triggering a succession crisis that would plague the county for decades. The Dav ST#7122 attribution places this squarely within the broader Saxon-circle thaler coinage conventions of the period.
