正面描述 Draped and mantled bust of Engelbert of Sirgenstein, Prince-Abbot of Kempten, facing right, wearing a biretta and richly ornamented ecclesiastical vestments with elaborate foliate and scroll embroidery. The effigy is rendered in high relief in the Baroque style, with the mint master's initials MW visible below the bust truncation. The peripheral legend encircles the bust within a milled border.

附加信息

The Abbey of Kempten was among the oldest imperial abbeys in the Holy Roman Empire, its abbots holding the rank of Imperial Prince with full secular authority over their territory — a status that carried the explicit right to strike coinage. Engelbert of Sirgenstein served as Prince-Abbot from 1730 until his death in 1760, a tenure long enough to produce a coherent series of issues but historically overshadowed by the abbey's forced secularization under Bavarian pressure in 1803.

Thalers of this type are infrequently encountered, reflecting the modest minting output of a small ecclesiastical principality operating well into the decline of imperial abbatial power.
