| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central quartered coat of arms of the Archbishopric of Mainz, displaying the wheel of Mainz (a six-spoked cartwheel) and the arms of the Brendel von Homburg family in alternating quarters. The shield is surmounted by an electoral hat and flanked by elaborate decorative mantling with a griffin supporter visible to the right. The circular Latin legend reads DANIEL. D: G. - ARCH. MOGVN - PR(INC): - EL(EC)., referencing Daniel Brendel as Archbishop of Mainz and Prince-Elector. The overall design is executed in the bold Renaissance hammered style characteristic of late sixteenth-century German ecclesiastical coinage. |
