Reverse description Central quartered shield bearing the combined arms of the Rhenish electoral circle, incorporating the checky arms of Bavaria (lozengy), the cross of the Teutonic Order, the lion of the Palatinate, and other electoral emblems arranged in a four-part composition. The shield is surrounded by ornamental Renaissance strapwork and foliate cartouche. The date 1572 appears in the upper field. The surrounding Latin legend MON. NO. RHEN. ELEC(T) - ET. PRINC. CONSO(I). identifies this as a new monetary convention coin of the Rhenish electors and associated princes. The reverse exemplifies the Münzvereinstaler type issued under the monetary union of the Rhenish Electors.
