| Obverse description | Central field occupied by a large, elaborately mantled quartered shield bearing the arms of Corvey Abbey, surmounted by a mitre and flanked by two crossed keys on the left and a sword on the right, all within ornate Baroque scrollwork. The arms display horizontal lines and a crescent in the lower quarters. Mint initials G·B appear below the shield. The circular Latin legend reads CHRISTOPHORVS D G ELECT ET CONF ABAS CORBEI S R I P, identifying Christopher of Bellinghausen as elected and confirmed Abbot of Corvey and Prince of the Holy Roman Empire. The coin exhibits finely detailed high-relief engraving characteristic of late 17th-century German ecclesiastical coinage. |
