| Reverse description | The reverse presents a detailed panoramic view of the city of Münster, rendered with considerable engraving artistry showing multiple church towers, rooftops, and city walls across the middle ground. Above the cityscape, amid billowing clouds, appears the half-length figure of Saint Paul, patron of Münster, holding a sword in his right hand and a book in his left. The inscription S·PAVL PATRON flanks the saint's figure within the inner field. Below the city view, a three-line Latin inscription in the exergue reads MONAST·WESTPH / AD·OBED·REDVC / TVM, commemorating the submission of Westphalia to obedience. A continuous Latin legend in the outer border reads the date MDCLXI and the titles of Bishop Christoph Bernhard. |
