| Obverse description | Armored bust of Christian William of Brandenburg facing right, wearing an elaborately decorated cuirass with ruffled lace collar, his beard and mustache rendered in fine detail. The effigy occupies the central field, with the date 1624 appearing within the encircling legend at the top. The peripheral legend in Latin reads CRIS:WIL:D:G:P:AD:M:COA:HAL:MAR:BR:DVX:PRV, denoting his full titles as postulated administrator of Magdeburg, coadjutor of Halberstadt, margrave of Brandenburg, and duke of Prussia. The portrait is executed in high relief with strong baroque styling typical of early seventeenth-century German taler coinage. |
