| Obverse description | Draped bust of Duke Christian Louis I facing right, portrayed with long flowing curly hair in the Baroque manner, wearing elaborate armour with an ornate lace cravat visible at the neck. The effigy displays fine high-relief portraiture characteristic of late 17th-century German minting. A Latin legend encircles the bust along the periphery, separated from the inner field by a toothed border. The legend reads CHRIST LVD D G DVX MEGAP PRINC VAND, identifying the ruler as Duke of Mecklenburg and Prince of the Wends by the grace of God. |
