Reverse description Central quartered shield of arms surmounted by an elaborate open crown, the escutcheon bearing the heraldic devices of Denmark, Schleswig, Holstein, and a fourth territory, with a smaller inescutcheon at the center displaying a further quartered coat of arms. The shield is framed by a wreath of stylized oak leaves. The encircling Latin legend reads MO DVCATVV SLESVIC Z HOL 4 5, denoting the ducal monetary authority of Schleswig and Holstein with the date split as 45 (completing 1545). The overall composition is characteristic of the early Reformation-era thaler coinage of the Danish duchies.
