| Aanvullende informatie |
Saxe-Weissenfels was among the smallest and most financially precarious of the Saxon duchies, a cadet line created by division of the Albertine territories in 1656 that never achieved meaningful political independence. Schützenfest klippen — square-struck presentation pieces issued for shooting festivals — were one of the few avenues through which such minor courts could project prestige without the full expense of a campaign coinage. Christian II ruled from 1712 until the duchy's extinction at his death in 1736, after which the territory reverted to Electoral Saxony.
The square flan and above-average die work on these klippen suggest ceremonial rather than circulating intent. Schnee 1125 is documented across a date range rather than a single year, implying reuse of the same dies across multiple festival occasions.
