| Obverse description | Armored bust of Margrave Alexander right, with powdered wig and lace cravat visible above the cuirass, the neck and shoulder draped in armor with decorative studs. The effigy is rendered in high relief in a late Baroque style. The encircling legend reads ALEXANDER • D • G • MARCH: BRAND: A mintmaster initial G appears at the lower field below the bust truncation. The coin is struck within a fine milled border. |

| Reverse description | Centrally placed quartered heraldic shield surmounted by an elaborate royal crown, the quarters displaying the arms of Brandenburg, Ansbach, and associated territories. Two heraldic eagles displayed serve as supporters flanking the shield, each perched on a decorative base of foliage and rosettes. A double-linked chain of the Order of the Red Eagle encircles the lower portion of the shield. The date 1778 is divided and placed to the upper left and right of the crown, with mint official initials W and K appearing in the lower field. |
