Obverse description The central field is entirely occupied by a twelve-line Latin funerary inscription set within an inner beaded circle, recording the birth, betrothal, death, and burial of Christiane of Saxe-Merseburg. The peripheral legend encircling the coin carries the full dynastic titulature of Duke Christian of Saxe-Eisenberg in abbreviated Latin. The lettering is executed in a bold, upright Roman typeface characteristic of late 17th-century German memorial thalers. The inscription commemorates Christiane's birth at Merseburg on 1 June 1659, her betrothal on 13 February 1677, her death following childbirth on 13 March 1679, and her interment at Merseburg on 29 April 1679. The design is austere and text-driven, with no figural elements, reflecting the solemn commemorative purpose of the issue.
