Christian of Brandenburg-Bayreuth came to rule the margraviate in 1603 and spent much of his reign navigating the opening pressures of the Thirty Years' War, which had broken out just six years before this thaler was struck. The 1624 issue falls squarely within the Kipper und Wipper crisis aftermath — a period of catastrophic currency debasement across the German states between roughly 1618 and 1623 — making a full-weight silver thaler from this moment something of a deliberate statement of monetary competence from a minor ruler under considerable pressure.
Christian died in 1655, having outlasted the war itself. ST#6266 places this within the Steyermark reference corpus for the type.
