Reverse description Elaborately quartered coat of arms of the Brunswick-Lüneburg dynasty, surmounted by a ducal crown and crested helm bearing the leaping horse of Brunswick, supported on either side by wild man supporters rendered in vigorous baroque style with foliate mantling. The multi-quartered shield displays the heraldic devices of the various constituent territories including Brunswick (two leopards), Lüneburg (lion), and further quarterings. The design fills the inner field to the beaded border. The Latin legend surrounding the shield incorporates the date 1618.
