Charles VI spent much of his reign managing the political fallout from the War of the Spanish Succession and pressing European courts to accept the Pragmatic Sanction — the instrument that would allow his daughter Maria Theresa to inherit the Habsburg lands. The Hall mint in Tyrol had been striking thalers continuously since the late fifteenth century, one of the longest-running operations in the empire, and its output in this period was partly driven by the need to finance ongoing diplomatic obligations rather than active warfare.
Herinek 348 is a recognized variety within a series that saw multiple die marriages across the Hall production run of Charles VI thalers.
