| Obverse description | A spread eagle in flight occupies the upper field, its wings outstretched as a protective symbol above a detailed panoramic view of the city of Cologne. Below the cityscape, the denomination and date 1705 are inscribed alongside the mint official's initials FHH, all framed within a beaded border. The composition reflects the civic pride typical of German free city coinage of the early eighteenth century. |

| Reverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Emperor Joseph I facing right, rendered in high relief in the Baroque style with elaborate armored and mantled shoulders decorated with foliate and heraldic ornament. The emperor's hair falls in long flowing curls onto his shoulders in the fashion of the period. A continuous Latin legend surrounds the effigy, identifying the ruler by name and imperial title, interrupted at the base by the truncation of the bust. The portrait is set within a fine beaded border. |
