The shield is surmounted by a large electoral crown with cross finial. The date 1744 appears within the encircling legend to the left, with the Latin inscription ARCHITHESAVR • ET • ELECTOR • reading around the periphery, denoting Charles Theodore's offices of Imperial Arch-Treasurer and Prince-Elector.
