Obverse description Right-facing draped bust of Prince-Bishop Charles of Austria (Karl von Österreich, known as Charles the Posthumous) portrayed in high relief, clad in a richly embroidered mozzetta — a short ecclesiastical cape — with a broad flat collar. The effigy is rendered in the detailed Baroque style characteristic of early seventeenth-century South Tyrolean coinage. The encircling Latin legend runs along the coin's rim, identifying the subject by his secular titles as Archduke of Austria, Duke of Burgundy, and Count of Tyrol.
