Reverse description The prancing horse of Brunswick, a celebrated heraldic emblem of the House of Welf, depicted leaping to the left over a ground line, rendered with vigorous naturalistic detail including a flowing mane and tail. The motto NVNQVAM RETRORSVM, meaning 'Never Backwards', arcs across the upper field, accompanied by the date. The denomination 1 THALER appears in the lower field beneath the horse, with the mintmaster's initials A.C.B. below. The entire design is enclosed within a milled border.
