Obverse description Armored bust of Duke Charles I facing right, wearing an elaborate ruff collar and richly decorated plate armor, with the date 16-07 divided on either side of the figure. The circumferential legend in Latin runs along the inner border of the coin's field. The portrait is rendered in the characteristic late Renaissance style typical of German territorial coinage of the early seventeenth century.

Reverse description Elaborately helmeted and mantled coat of arms of the Duchy of Mecklenburg-Güstrow, supported by two wild men (savages) as heraldic supporters, one on each side. The central shield displays the quartered arms of the duchy surmounted by multiple crested helms with flowing mantling. The circumferential legend in Latin is divided around the periphery of the field, reading continuously around the shield composition.
