| Obverse description | Armored bust of Duke Charles I facing right, wearing an elaborate ruff collar and richly decorated plate armor, with the date 16-07 divided on either side of the figure. The circumferential legend in Latin runs along the inner border of the coin's field. The portrait is rendered in the characteristic late Renaissance style typical of German territorial coinage of the early seventeenth century. |
