| Obverse description | Three conjoined busts facing one another in a symmetrical arrangement: two facing right on the left side and two facing left on the right side, representing the four brothers of the House of Königsegg-Rothenfels. The figures are depicted in contemporary aristocratic dress, with elaborate periwigs and decorative orders visible on their garments. A circular Latin legend surrounds the effigies, identifying the counts as lords of Aulendorf and Stauffen and brothers of the Holy Roman Empire. Below the busts, in the lower exergue, appears the fraternal motto UTI SANGUINE ITA ET AMICITIA IUNCTI (United as much by friendship as by blood) followed by the Roman numeral date MDCCLIX. The engraver's signature G. RODA appears in the lower field. |
