In the lower portion, a recessed tablet bears the fineness inscription 10 EINE FEINE MARCK, with the date MDCCLVII (1757) below, and the mint-master's initials M. F. beneath. The reverse design carries strong allegorical significance appropriate to the Konventionstaler standard. |

Hohenlohe-Waldenburg-Schilingsfürst was among the smallest of the Holy Roman Empire's immediate territories — a county of perhaps a few thousand subjects with no mint of its own for most of its history. This 1757 Konventionstaler was struck under Charles Albert during the Seven Years' War, a moment when dozens of minor German princes opportunistically exercised their imperial minting rights, partly to assert sovereignty and partly for the seigniorage profit that wartime silver demand made briefly attractive.
The Konventionstaler standard itself had been fixed by the Austro-Bavarian convention of 1753, setting the coin at 10 per Cologne mark of silver.
