| Obverse description | Within a wide circular legend, the crowned and draped arms of the City of Strasbourg are displayed on a shield at center, set within an inner beaded border. The outer legend is divided into two concentric inscriptions: the upper reading +OMNIS✱TERRA✱ADORET✱DEVM✱ET✱PSALLAT✱EI and the lower LVX✱POST✱TENEBRAS✱MDXVII, referencing the Lutheran Reformation centenary. The entire design is struck on a square klippe flan with the characteristic raised corners and flat fields typical of early seventeenth-century German commemorative klippe issues. |
