Reverse description The entire reverse field is occupied by a ten-line Latin commemorative inscription in bold Roman capitals, reading PRO / RELIGIONIS / CENTVM ANTE / ANNOS DIVINITVS / RESTITVTAE MEMO / RIA NOVIQVE SECV / LI FELICI AVSPICIO / S·P·Q·ARGENTOR· / F·F·A·MDCXVII· / CAL·NOVEMB·, meaning 'In memory of religion divinely restored one hundred years ago and under the happy auspices of a new century, the Senate and People of Strasbourg had this made, in the year 1617, on the Calends of November.' A small decorative foliate ornament appears at the base of the inscription field. The lettering is separated by mid-point stops and the entire composition is enclosed within a beaded border.
