Obverse description Armored bust of Duke Bogislaw XIV facing right, wearing elaborately engraved plate armor with ruff collar, set within a beaded inner circle. The date 1628 is divided by the bust across the field, with '16' to the left and '28' to the right. The circumferential Latin legend reads BOGISLAVS. XIV. D.G. DVX. STET. POM. CASSVB. ET. VAN. 1628, denoting his full ducal title by the grace of God. The portrait is rendered in the high relief typical of early seventeenth-century German taler coinage, with fine detailing on the armor's articulated lames and gorget.
