1 Thaler - Bogislaw XIV

Bogislaw XIV was the last Duke of Pomerania, and 1628 placed him squarely in the middle of the Thirty Years' War — Swedish forces under Gustav II Adolf were already operating in the Baltic region, and Pomerania's political survival depended on picking the right patron. Bogislaw, childless and aging, signed the Treaty of Stettin with Sweden in 1630, effectively ceding his duchy's future to Stockholm upon his death. He died in 1637 without heirs, and Sweden absorbed Pomerania exactly as arranged.

This thaler was struck just two years before that treaty sealed the duchy's fate.
