Obverse description Seven-line Latin funerary inscription in the field, reading AUGUSTUS IUNIOR / D.G.DUX BR.ET.LUNAE / CLARAE MARIAE POMERAN. / CONIUGIS SUAVISSIMAE / MEMORIAE / CUM LACHRYMIS F.F. / 14 APRIL MDCXXIII, recording the death of Clara Maria of Pomerania, beloved consort of Duke August II. The inscription is set within a plain field and framed above and below by ornamental baroque scrollwork cartouches rendered in relief. The coin is enclosed by a finely beaded inner border and a milled outer rim, consistent with early seventeenth-century north German memorial coinage.
