| Obverse description | Half-length armored effigy of Duke August the Younger of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel facing right, clad in elaborate full plate armor with richly detailed pauldrons and gorget, holding a sword upright in his right hand and a helmet under his left arm. The figure is rendered in high relief with fine engraving of the armorial details. A continuous Latin legend in capital letters surrounds the portrait within an inner beaded border: AUGUSTUS D G DUX BRUNSVIC ET LUNEBURG, reading partially along the upper and lower periphery. |
