Obverse description The obverse displays the elaborate quartered arms of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel within a baroque shield, featuring lions and other heraldic charges across multiple quarters, with a small horse passant in the base quarter. Above the shield rise three ornate crowned helmets with their respective crest devices — a pair of buffalo horns, a crowned lion, and a branch — rendered in high relief. The circular Latin legend AUGUSTUS HERTZOG ZU BRAUNSCHWEIG UND LÜNEBURG runs along the entire periphery, with a beaded inner border framing the composition.
