| Описание реверса | The reverse bears a multi-line Latin funerary inscription filling the entire field, commemorating the pious, just, and peaceable prince whose honor, name, and praise shall endure for all ages. The text records that he assumed governance in 1666, shared rule with his brother from 1685, and completed the course Fortune had given him, guided by the hand of the Most High, departing this life in 1704 at the age of 77. The inscription is arranged in seventeen lines across a plain field, with a small engraver's mark or mint symbol at the foot. The reeded edge frames the design, consistent with the milled coinage of the Brunswick workshops. |

Anthony Ulrich ruled Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel for over five decades and spent much of that time building one of the most elaborate courts in the German lands — a deliberate cultural rivalry with Versailles. This thaler was struck in 1704, the year his son Ludwig Rudolf died, not Anthony Ulrich himself; he would not die until 1714. The "Death" designation in the series refers to a memorial issue within a broader dynastic commemorative program, a common practice among the Guelph princes who used the thaler format aggressively for political messaging.
Anthony Ulrich converted to Catholicism in 1710, a move that shocked Protestant northern Germany and complicated the succession.
