Obverse lettering ANT. GVNT. COM. OLD. E. DELM. D. I. IEV. E. KN
(Translation: Anton Gunther Count of Oldenburg and Delmenhorst, Lord in Jever and Kniphausen.)
Reverse description Central field features a double-headed imperial eagle displayed, each head crowned separately and surmounted by a single large imperial crown above. The eagle bears on its breast an orb or shield with the imperial cipher. The design is contained within a rope-bordered inner circle, with the circumferential legend MATH. I. D: G. ROM. IMPERAT. SEMP. AVGV. invoking the authority of Emperor Matthias as suzerain, a standard formula on German territorial coinage of the period. The square klippe corners protrude beyond the circular die field, consistent with the hammered klippe striking technique.
