Reverse description Full-length frontal figure of Christ the Saviour (Salvator Mundi) standing in high relief, robed in flowing drapery, raising his right hand in benediction and holding an orb surmounted by a cross in his left hand. A nimbus crowns the head, and the date 15-42 is divided symmetrically to either side of the figure in the field. The surrounding Latin legend, invoking the Psalm-derived prayer 'Save Thy people, O Lord,' runs clockwise along the border, separated from the toothed rim by a beaded circle, reflecting the devotional character that gives this issue its Salvatortaler designation.
