| Obverse description | Central field displays an elaborate interlinked ducal cypher 'AF' (for Adolphus Frederick) rendered in ornate Baroque script, enclosed within a decorative cartouche of scrolling foliate and laurel branches. A royal crown surmounts the cypher at the top of the design. The four-digit date is split to either side of the crowned monogram, with '17' to the left and '47' to the right of the crown, set within the field rather than in a surrounding legend. |
