1 Thaler - Adam Frederick of Seinsheim

Adam Frederick of Seinsheim became Prince-Bishop of Würzburg in 1755 and simultaneously held the see of Bamberg — a personal union of two Franconian ecclesiastical territories that concentrated unusual administrative and financial authority in one man. The 1760 date falls squarely in the Seven Years' War, when Franconia was repeatedly crossed by Prussian, Austrian, and French forces, and the Reichskreis system that Würzburg nominally operated within was under severe strain. Coinage from this period served partly as a political assertion of princely prerogative at a moment when that prerogative was being tested by military occupation and fiscal disruption.
