背面描述 Centrally placed crowned coat of arms of the House of Schwarzenberg, a complex quartered shield displaying the dynastic heraldic devices including the characteristic raven motif, surmounted by a princely crown with elaborate mantling. The shield is flanked by decorative foliate and floral ornaments framing the composition. The divided date appears within the legend field, with 17 to the left and 21 to the right of the shield. The surrounding Latin legend IN SCHWARZENBERG LANDGR: IN CLEGGOV references the prince's territorial titles as Landgrave in Klettgau. The overall design is characteristic of the high Baroque heraldic style prevalent in Holy Roman Empire coinage of the early eighteenth century.

附加信息

Adam Francis of Schwarzenberg obtained the princely title for his family in 1670 — technically — but it was his son Adam Francis Charles who pressed the Holy Roman Emperor to confirm and expand those privileges in the early eighteenth century, partly as reward for military service against the Ottomans. Striking thalers was itself an exercise in that status game: the right to mint full-weight silver coinage was jealously guarded imperial territory, and a minor principality issuing thalers was advertising its autonomy as much as its treasury.

The Davenport reference places this squarely among the German Territorial issues, a category where survival rates vary wildly by principality. Schwarzenberg pieces from this window see relatively limited appearance at auction compared to contemporary Saxon or Brandenburg issues.
