| Obverse description | Intaglio-printed in dark brown and black on cream paper, the obverse presents a standing allegorical figure of Justice at left, holding scales and sword, flanking a central letterpress text panel surmounted by the ducal coat of arms with lion supporters and royal crown. To the right, a finely engraved reclining lion appears before a vignette of Gotha castle, while a decorative guilloche medallion in blue occupies the upper right corner. The bold denomination EIN THALER is set at centre, the issuing authority rendered in Gothic script below, with three manuscript signatures of the Commissaries and Rendant der Staatscasse, above a repeated denomination underprint. |
