Reverse description A displayed imperial double-headed eagle with spread wings dominates the field, each head surmounted by a separate crown and the whole ensigned by a large imperial crown above. Upon the eagle's breast is affixed a crowned, quartered escutcheon bearing the arms of the Holy Roman Empire within the chain of the Order of the Golden Fleece. The eagle holds a sword in its right talon and an orb in its left. The surrounding circular legend, divided by the eagle's heads, reads FRANCISCVS D·G· – ROM·IMP·SEMP·AVG, identifying Emperor Francis I. A milled border frames the entire reverse.
