Obverse description Full-length frontal figure of Saint Peter, patron saint of Lübeck, standing erect in episcopal vestments and mantle, holding a large key in his right hand and a book in his left, with an ornate shield bearing the Lübeck arms (a silver eagle on a red field) at his feet. The figure is rendered in high relief with considerable detail in the drapery folds. A beaded inner border frames the design, with the circular Latin legend reading MONETA NOVA LUBECENSIS around the periphery, separated by small star ornaments.
