正面描述 Central field displays the elaborate civic arms of Halberstadt: a crowned shield bearing a mailed fist, richly ornamented with foliate and scrollwork mantling on either side. The helmet above the shield is surmounted by a decorative crest. The mintmaster's initials C–Z appear to either side of the crown. A beaded inner circle frames the design, with a rope-pattern border encircling the entire coin. The partial legend MONITA NOVA HALBERSTAD runs around the periphery, identifying this as a new coinage of Halberstadt.

附加信息

Halberstadt's 1629 thaler was struck while the city was caught directly in the machinery of the Thirty Years' War. Imperial and Swedish forces would contest the surrounding region repeatedly through the 1620s and 1630s, and municipal coinage of this period often reflects emergency fiscal pressures rather than routine mint operation. The city's bishop had already been forcibly replaced under the terms of the Edict of Restitution, issued just months before this coin was struck — a document that reassigned secularized Catholic properties and upended Protestant governance across northern Germany.

The .2 variety designation under KM#56 distinguishes this from earlier die combinations in the series.
