| Obverse description | Three heraldic shields arranged in a trefoil pattern dominate the coin's field: the uppermost shield bears the Imperial double-headed eagle, while the lower-left and lower-right shields display the Nuremberg civic arms. The date is divided on either side of the upper shield, reading 16-30 (as seen on this particular year's example). The circular legend MONETA NOVA REIPVB NVRNBERGENSIS runs along the outer border, inscribed between two beaded rims, with the legend presented in a retrograde (anti-clockwise) reading direction at the base. |
