Obverse description Central oval shield bearing the city arms of Hildesheim — a divided coat of arms featuring a crowned eagle above and a quartered field below — set within an elaborate baroque cartouche of scrolling acanthus foliage and strapwork. Above the shield rises a crowned ornate helmet surmounted by a standing figure of a maiden (the traditional Hildesheim crest figure), flanked by elaborate mantling. The encircling legend reads MONETA NOVA REIP HILDE in Latin, referencing the new coinage of the Hildesheim Republic.
